corny end of the year recap and look forward

2013, overall it was a good year I think. I definitely think i grew quite a bit as an artist. that image above was one of the first paintings i did in 2013 for the W.A.R. show in Patterson Gallery (yes, i did have another Patterson Show this year, even I forgot about it since it was not really that cohesive or interesting as a gallery show). It was right after that show that i started getting back into figurative painting and it was one of the better decisions i have made, since i had really worked up a drawing style from animating. Then during the summer I made my first live action film, #5, which I am still not certain is an enjoyable film to watch for people other than me (I find it very calming and meditative instead of the alternative... boring).

At least one other person thought the film was worth something (Thanks again Tim Roda!) and the film was awarded the Kara D Berggren award at the Undergraduate Juried Exhibition (my second time winning the award!) Then I finished off the year with My Sweet Life Circus, which is by far the best paintings i have ever done, and by far the greatest series of paintings i have created (my grey painting series will continue in 2014, its too good to move on from just yet). Part of this circus series was The Acrobat, which is one of two paintings i do not think i could ever part with (the other being Couch Room II)

In 2014 i should hopefully finish another film and maybe finish a script for another. I'm going to keep on painting and doing stuff like that. but most of all to finish off 2013 i would like to thank all of the lovely people who have continued to keep me on track, the people who support my work and the people who keep me sane (at least relatively sane). Love you all and can't wait to pester you all with my goings on in 2014!
